The idea of an Apel Reunion took form in 2005, when Anne-Marie Jacobsen invited a small part of the Apel Family to a gathering in Nyråd and Vintersbølle. In spite of a very rainy day everyone agreed that the day was a great success, and that the idea of making a real Apel Family Reunion was a good one.
The day in 2005 included a brief introduction by Anne-Marie Jacobsen at the school of Nyråd and thereafter sightseeing in the woods of Vintersbølle . Lunch was eaten at the public house of Maren Apel, where everyone was happy that it had been restored. In that way we all could take turns and go inside the small house and escape the rain.
This day became the inspiration for the first real Apel Reunion with an open invitation to everyone related to Georg Andreas Apel. This first reunion took place in 2006.
